Graph Paper Generator
Printable grid paper in mm or inches: square, isometric, hex, polar and log scales.
How to use the Graph Paper Generator
- 1Choose a grid: square, engineering, isometric, hexagonal, polar, log-log or semi-log.
- 2Set the cell size in millimeters or inches, how often a major line appears, and the line colors and weights.
- 3Pick the paper size and margins, then download a vector PDF that prints at the exact scale.
About Graph Paper Generator
The Graph Paper Generator makes printable grid paper as a vector PDF in millimeters or inches. Seven grid types are available: square grid, engineering paper with five squares per inch, isometric triangles, hexagons with flat or pointy tops, polar graph paper with rings and spokes every 5 to 45 degrees, log-log paper and semi-log paper with one to six decades per axis.
You set the cell size, how often a heavier major line appears, and the color and weight of minor and major lines separately. Square grids can be shrunk to whole squares and centered on the page, polar grids can carry degree labels, and logarithmic grids can show scale numbers. The page itself can be A4, Letter, A5, A3, Legal or a custom size, with margins, an optional title, name and date lines, page numbers and up to 50 pages per file.
Students use the grid paper for math homework and function plots, engineers and scientists use semi-log and log-log paper to plot measurements spanning several orders of magnitude, and designers, woodworkers and tabletop gamers sketch plans, isometric drawings and hex maps on printable graph paper sized exactly to their needs.
Frequently asked questions
How do I print graph paper at the right size?
Choose “Actual size” or 100 % in the print dialog. “Fit to page” shrinks the page slightly, and a 5 mm grid would come out at about 4.8 mm.
What is engineering paper?
A grid of five squares per inch with a heavier line every inch, printed in light green with a header for name, date and page. It is common for engineering and accounting work.
What is isometric paper used for?
Its triangular grid has lines at 60° angles, which makes it easy to sketch 3D objects, floor plans, game maps and patterns without perspective.
What is the difference between semi-log and log-log graph paper?
Semi-log paper has one logarithmic and one linear axis, so exponential growth or decay appears as a straight line. On log-log paper both axes are logarithmic, and power laws of the form y = a·x^k become straight lines with slope k.
What is polar graph paper used for?
Polar paper has concentric circles for the distance from the center and spokes for the angle, so you can plot points given as radius and angle. It is used in trigonometry, for antenna and microphone patterns and for circular designs.
