UTM Builder
Build campaign URLs with UTM parameters, channel presets and batch mode for many links at once.
How to use the UTM Builder
- 1Enter the page URL and pick a channel preset, or type source, medium and campaign yourself.
- 2Choose how values are cleaned up: lowercase, underscores or hyphens for spaces.
- 3Copy the campaign URL or its QR code, or switch to Batch to tag many links at once and download them as CSV.
About UTM Builder
The UTM Builder adds campaign parameters to a link so analytics tools such as Google Analytics can tell where a visit came from. Enter the landing page URL, then fill in utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, plus the optional utm_id, utm_term and utm_content. Channel presets fill in source and medium for Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, paid and organic posts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and X, YouTube, newsletters, display banners, affiliates, SMS and printed QR codes.
To keep reports tidy, values can be lowercased automatically, stripped of accents and special characters, and spaces turned into underscores, hyphens, plus signs or %20. Each tagged URL also comes with a QR code that you can download as SVG for posters, flyers or packaging. In batch mode you tag many links at once and download them as a CSV file, which helps when a campaign runs across dozens of ads or newsletter links.
This campaign URL builder is meant for marketers, social media managers and small business owners who want consistent UTM parameters across a team, so the same channel does not show up under three different spellings in the reports.
Frequently asked questions
Which UTM parameters are required?
utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. utm_term, utm_content and utm_id are optional. Without source and medium, analytics tools can't assign the visit to a channel.
Are UTM parameters case-sensitive?
Yes. Email, email and EMAIL show up as three different rows in Google Analytics. Keep everything lowercase, which the builder does by default.
What should I use as utm_medium?
Use the values GA4's default channel groups expect: cpc for paid search, paid_social for social ads, social for organic posts, email for newsletters, affiliate, display and referral. The tool shows which channel your values will land in.
Should I use UTM tags on internal links?
No. A UTM link on your own site overwrites where the visitor originally came from, which spoils your reports. Use them only on links from outside.
Do UTM parameters hurt SEO?
They don't change rankings, but every tagged link is technically another URL for the same page. A canonical tag that points to the clean URL keeps search engines from indexing the tagged versions.
